Toplevel categories:
Infobox templates:
- Template:Plantbox
- Its documentation: Template:Plantbox/doc
- Blank, commented proforma: Template:NewPlant
- Filled out example: Acacia
- Form:Plant
- Template:Animalbox
To add a new property to Plants:
- Make a new page, 'Property:XX', and decide on the property's type and allowed values.
- Edit Form:Plant and add a field for the property. The name you give the field must also be used as its name in Plantbox.
- Edit Template:Plantbox and add the new property's field in two places:
- In the first section, to assign the field's value to the actual property
- In the bottom section, to display the value in the infobox
To add a new 'class', similar to Plant:
- Decide on all the properties of the class, their types, and their allowed values. Remember that values are not exclusive -- a page's property can have several different values at once.
- Make an infobox template, patterned after Template:Plantbox. This needs to perform 3 tasks:
- Accept, in its arguments, all the information needed to populate all the properties of a class instance.
- Use its arguments to assign values to all those properties.
- Use either its arguments or the newly populated properties to display an infobox.
- Create a form using Special:CreateForm. Give the infobox template as the input template for the form.
